Former Minister of Health, Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye, has emerged victorious as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) newly elected Regional Chairman for Greater Accra.
He secured the seat following the party’s regional executive elections conducted on Saturday, August 15.
Dr Okoe-Boye recorded a decisive win, polling 490 votes to defeat his opponent, Alfred Boye, who obtained 172 votes—establishing an overwhelming 318-vote victory margin.
The new chairman pledged to foster unity within the ranks, restructure the local party apparatus, and spearhead a strategic drive to reclaim parliamentary constituencies surrendered during the 2024 general elections.
The NPP experienced a sharp decline in the region during the last electoral cycle, dropping from 14 of the 34 parliamentary seats to just five following an eight-seat loss.
Moving forward, Dr Okoe-Boye is tasked with coordinating constituency management, mobilising grassroot support, and directing the regional execution of decisions formulated by the national executive leadership.
