The Paramount Chief of Kyekyewere, Barima Okunini Gyebi Kwame Ababio II, has declared a resolute stance against land encroachers, land guards, and individuals allegedly leveraging their influence to unlawfully acquire family lands within the Kyekyewere traditional area.

Speaking at a press conference and community dialogue, the Chief warned that his traditional council will strictly deal with perpetrators, regardless of their social status or political influence.

Expressing deep concern over the escalating activities of land guards, Barima Okunini Gyebi Kwame Ababio II revealed that residents now live in constant fear, with many unable to sleep peacefully or cultivate their farms due to relentless intimidation and physical attacks.

Consequently, he called on the relevant security agencies and authorities to intervene swiftly to restore law, order, and public safety to the area.

Furthermore, the Paramount Chief urged estate developers, prospective investors, and individuals seeking land for development to follow established protocols by first visiting the Palace to consult the appropriate traditional authorities.

He emphasised that acquiring land through legitimate channels remains the only sure way to prevent future boundary disputes, unlawful encroachment, and communal conflict across Kyekyewere.

“We have declared a war on the activities of land guards. We do not have land guards here, but they are transported in to torment our people, and after that, they leave. This is purely a criminal offence. We will do everything possible to protect our lands and people. As a traditional authority, we have documented proof of our lands and we will protect them. These lands are in the custody of the Okyenhene. If you disregard existing protocols and use dubious means to take over these lands, we will use the existing protocols to deal with you,” he stated.
