A man identified as Kingsly Odai, popularly known in the community as King, has passed away after suffering extensive burn injuries in a midnight fire incident at Ayigbe Town, a suburb of Adeiso in the Upper West Akim District of the Eastern Region.
The tragedy unfolded a few days ago when a fire broke out, engulfing a house and the room occupied by the victim.
Kingsly Odai sustained severe burns during the inferno and was quickly evacuated to the Koforidua Government Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Medical officers at the regional facility battled to save his life, but he succumbed to the high-degree burn injuries.
Initial reports emerging from the community have linked the incident to an alleged dispute between the deceased and another individual identified as Kwasi Akapela.
Reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Prince Collins Bening stated that Kwasi Akapela had threatened to deal with Ling prior to the fire.
Local residents claimed Akapela previously threatened to harm the deceased, leading them to suspect he set the room ablaze.
However, initial reports indicate that the deceased had lit egg crates inside the room to smoke out mosquitoes and other insects.
However, police officers in the region have commenced a full investigation into the matter to determine the exact cause of the fire and clarify the surrounding circumstances.
