The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has declared his support for Boakye Agyarko to be elected National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Describing him as an experienced, mature, and disciplined politician, the lawmaker noted that the NPP currently needs a strong leader capable of maintaining party discipline and unity. He expressed confidence that the former Energy Minister is best positioned to help secure victory for flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Acquah posited that the chairmanship race is a done deal for Boakye Agyarko. He emphasized that Mr. Agyarko has risen through the ranks and dedicated himself to the party, having served as a policy advisor under former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“Boakye Agyarko is the best candidate to be elected as Chairman. It is a done deal for him. If he is elected, all others will unite. We need a head and a Chairman who can direct affairs. We need a Chairman who can secure victory for flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
He added that the 2028 election belongs to the NPP, making it essential to have a leader who can deliver that victory.
“Boakye Agyarko has the track record. He has been a campaign manager before. He served under former Presidents Kufuor and Addo. If you are older, you will realize; if you look at Boakye Agyarko, you discover he is humble, disciplined, and a problem solver. He is not a selfish politician, nor does he seek to use political influence to amass wealth for himself. He is an established professional.”
