The Accra High Court has granted Counsel for the first accused person in the ongoing cybersecurity software trial a final extension to conclude the cross-examination of the fourth prosecution witness.
Presiding over the case, Republic v Kwabena Adu Boahene & 2 Ors, the court acceded to a fresh request by defence lawyer Samuel Atta Akyea, fixing Wednesday, 2 September, as the absolute cut-off date for his questioning.
The decision marks the fourth time the court has obliged defence counsel with an extended timeframe to wrap up cross-examination, clearing the path for the Prosecution to formally close its case.
Despite strong reservations raised by the Deputy Attorney-Genera, Justice Srem-Sai regarding the further delay, the court exercised discretion to grant the single-day extension.
However, it issued a stern caution to Mr Atta Akyea, ruling that he will be deemed to have fully concluded his cross-examination after three hours of proceedings on Wednesday.
The fourth prosecution witness, Mr Frank Marshall Cromwell—a Staff Officer with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO)—has remained on the witness stand under cross-examination for the past 10 weeks.
