The latest remittance represents a significant surge compared to the US$5 million dividend delivered to the state in the previous period.

Announcing the revenue presentation in a Facebook post, the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, attributed the steep rise to the company’s strong earnings and operational performance.

Dr Forson noted that the substantial return underscores the success of the government’s fiscal framework for the natural resources sector.

“Ghana must receive its fair share from the extractive sector,” the Minister stated. “That is why we introduced the sliding-scale system: when mining companies earn more, the people of Ghana must benefit more.”

The sliding-scale royalty framework adjusts state returns relative to international mineral prices, ensuring national revenue scales alongside corporate profits.

Dr Forson expressed gratitude to Perseus Mining on behalf of the state, citing the company’s compliance and contribution to national development. The funds are expected to bolster government revenue streams amid broader economic stabilization initiatives.
