Member of Parliament for Krowor and Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has distributed seed capital and business support items worth about GH¢1.4 million to nearly 600 constituents in the latest phase of her constituency empowerment programme.
The distribution, described by organisers as the sixth such donation since the beginning of 2026, included maize, deep freezers, polytanks, sewing machines, hairdryers, carpentry tools, and other equipment, alongside cash grants ranging from GH¢1,500 to GH¢3,500 per beneficiary.
Recipients, drawn from various communities across the Krowor constituency, welcomed the support with jubilation, thanking the MP and invoking God’s blessings on her to continue the assistance she has been providing to residents.
According to details shared at the event, this latest distribution marks the sixth batch of business support Dr. Lartey has rolled out in Krowor since January 2026, underscoring the scale and regularity of her constituency intervention programme.
The items and cash grants are targeted at micro- and small enterprises, including seamstresses, hairdryers, carpenters, food vendors, petty traders, and artisans, many of whom operate in informal settings with limited access to formal credit.
This combination of assets and liquidity is intended to address two common constraints faced by small operators: lack of startup or expansion capital, and the absence of essential equipment needed to improve productivity and service quality.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Lartey urged recipients to put the support to meaningful use, stressing that the ultimate goal is to help their businesses grow, create jobs, and improve household incomes.
Her message was clear: the donations are not ends in themselves, but catalysts for sustainable livelihoods if managed prudently.
Dr. Lartey reiterated that her broader vision is to help eradicate poverty from the lives of her people in the Krowor constituency through targeted economic empowerment.
For many, especially women in trading, tailoring, and hairdressing, the support represents a critical lifeline that could determine whether their businesses survive, stagnate, or grow over the next few years.
