Newly appointed Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, has called on the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, to seek his spiritual support, wisdom, and counsel as he takes up his ministerial portfolio.
The courtesy call formed part of the Minister’s initial engagements to build strong ties with key leaders across the country’s religious and traditional sectors, which fall directly under his ministry’s supervisory authority.
According to Mr Ayariga, beginning his tenure with the guidance and prayers of revered spiritual leaders remains a crucial priority for him.
“I deeply value the wisdom and counsel of our religious leaders, and I believe that beginning this new responsibility with prayers and guidance is important,” he stated.
Highlighting the Chief Imam’s exemplary life, the Minister urged members of the Muslim community to emulate the peaceful nature and selfless leadership of Sheikh Sharubutu.
He explained that tapping into the wealth of experience and elder statesman wisdom of the Islamic cleric would help shape his vision for the ministry.
Outlining his operational approach, Mr Ayariga promised to discharge his duties with high integrity, dedication, and humility.
He reiterated his determination to work in tandem with traditional authorities, religious bodies, and local government structures to drive community development and uplift the living conditions of citizens.
The Minister expressed confidence that continuous dialogue and collaboration with key stakeholders would effectively advance government policies while reinforcing national unity across all chieftaincy and religious institutions.
