The Management of the Aayalolo Bus Rapid Transit System has announced that plans are far advanced to reintroduce its electronic payment system to streamline operations and enhance commuters’ experience.
Disclosing the development, the Public Relations Officer for the Aayalolo Bus Rapid Transit System, Mr Justice K. Safo, explained that the initiative forms part of broader efforts to modernize the transit service and ensure greater efficiency in fare collection.
According to Mr Safo, the card-based fare collection mechanism will initially be rolled out under a pilot phase in Kasoa. Following a successful trial, the cashless system will be extended across all other operational corridors.
The reintroduction of the electronic card system is expected to significantly reduce long queues at terminals, eliminate cash-handling challenges, and provide a seamless, hassle-free journey for passengers relying on the bus rapid transit network.
”The card system was operationalised at the Amasaman corridor; however, along the line, we stopped and started using the tickets. But I can confirm to you that we will reintroduce the use of the card system. It will be piloted along the Kasoa corridor. After that, we will do the same across all the various corridors. So, the card system is coming back, and coming back real soon,” he said on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.
