NCPTA blows alarm over ‘illegal sale’ of SHS prospectus items by EduPack PGL

The National Council of Parent-Teacher Associations (NCPTA) has issued a stern warning to parents of first-year Senior High School students not to pay any money to a private entity named EduPack PGL, also operating as Prospectus Ghana Limited.

In a press statement signed by the General Secretary of the NCPTA, Gaeson Kofi Raphael, the association raised alarm over ongoing efforts by the company to exploit parents.

EduPack PGL has reportedly been circulating messages via SMS and social media platforms, directing parents to pay GHS 1,617.00 for basic prospectus items such as metal trunks, plastic chop boxes, mattresses, and pillows to be collected on school campuses.

The council described the scheme as extortion, deception, and an illegal commercialisation of school admissions. It stressed that school campuses must not be turned into marketplaces and insisted that parents retain the absolute freedom to purchase required items from the open market.

Commending the Ghana Education Service (GES) for issuing an earlier disclaimer to distance itself from the company, the NCPTA urged authorities to go beyond public statements. The association called on the GES to sanction any headteacher who permits such unauthorized sales on campus and to initiate legal action against EduPack PGL for using the official GES logo to defraud parents.

The NCPTA instructed all regional, district, and school-level PTA executives to remain vigilant and report any attempts to force parents into buying the packages.
