The Ghana Police Service has arrested and interdicted a police officer, General Corporal Robert Koranteng, in connection with the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Ivan Baidoo along the Tema Motorway.
The arrest follows preliminary investigations into a viral video that captured the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, 27th August 2026.
According to a police statement, the officer has been placed in custody as specialized units commence full-scale investigations into the tragic event.
The Homicide Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has taken over the case to establish the precise circumstances that led to the young man’s death.
Concurrently, the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has launched an internal inquiry into General Corporal Koranteng’s professional conduct during the encounter.
The administration assured the general public that a thorough, impartial investigation is underway and promised that appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be enforced once proceedings conclude.
