President John Dramani Mahama has officially turned the first sod for the US$1.3 billion Sentuo Airport Garden City project in Accra, reinforcing his commitment to positioning the capital as a leading commercial and tourism hub.
The mixed-use development, situated along Giffard Road near Kotoka International Airport, is being spearheaded by the Sentuo Group.
Conceived as an integrated urban centre, the project will incorporate 582 luxury apartments, a 600-room hotel, a contemporary shopping complex, medical facilities, and landscaped green space. A state-of-the-art conference venue with a 2,500-seat capacity is also planned, designed to host major global summits and corporate conventions.
Speaking at the launch, Mahama stressed that the substantial private investment complements national economic goals by driving infrastructure development, scaling up the hospitality industry, and creating thousands of jobs for local residents.
“Our message to the world is clear: Ghana is open for investment, Ghana is ready for partnership, and Ghana is building for the future,” Mahama said.
He praised the Sentuo Group for its confidence in the country’s economy and urged the developers to focus on local capacity by employing Ghanaian engineers, craftsmen, and supply networks during construction.
The residential section will target local professionals, diaspora buyers, and expatriates, whilst the commercial complex aims to deliver leisure and essential services within a single location.
