“Let me begin by congratulating warmly our young students who have successfully completed their basic education and are now making the important transition from Junior High School to Senior High School. This is a significant milestone in your education journey. It marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another, one that will introduce you to new environment, greater responsibility and exciting opportunities,” he said.

He noted that their progress to SHS stems from their hard work, perseverance, and determination, alongside the sacrifices of parents, guardians, and teachers.

Stressing the origin of the initiative, the lawmaker clarified that the Freshers Fund is his personal project rather than a state-funded program.

“Today through the second edition of the MP’s Freshers Fund, and let me place emphasis on that, it is not government Freshers Fund. It is Jerry Ahmed Shaib’s Freshers Fund. Not a government project. It is Jerry Ahmed Shaib with the support of his executives,” he emphasized.

Beneficiaries received trunks, pillows, school bags, mattresses, and other essential educational supplies.

“We are presenting to you trunks, pillows, school bags, mattresses to help you begin this new chapter. We need you to carry the kind of confidence and dignity we expect you to take to your respective schools,” he stated.

The initiative, themed Supporting education. Empowering our youth. Building the future, lightens the financial burden on families across the Weija-Gbawe Constituency.

The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Charles Odum, commended the lawmaker for his continued investment in education. Expressing gratitude to Hon. Shaib, Mr. Odum noted that the intervention eases the transition to Senior High School for qualified BECE graduates.

“I will have a simple speech to give. The speech goes to Honourable Ahmed Shaib. We are so grateful for making it easy for all those who qualified at the BECE to go to school,” he said.

Mr. Odum described education as an investment expected to yield positive returns.

“For the students, going to school is an investment that we expect profits. The profit we expect is that you go to school and learn so that together we can build the nation,” he added.

He thanked all stakeholders for supporting the initiative and prayed for God’s blessings upon them.
