Government’s drive to get contractors on major road networks operating on a 24-hour work routine is fully attainable, Roads and Highways Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza has asserted.
He noted that firms already running round-the-clock operations offer concrete proof that the strategy works and can significantly fast-track critical infrastructure delivery.
Speaking during a night assessment of the 60-kilometre Perchi Junction–Enchi road project on Tuesday, September 16, Mr Agbodza praised the progress on the corridor, which links Western North Region communities to Elubo.
The route will boost access between the Sefwi belt and Elubo, while serving as a key bypass for commuters traveling from Côte d’Ivoire to Kumasi and the Sahel region.
The Minister lauded the contractor, Big Aidoo Construction Limited, for its speed and dedication toward its March 2027 completion deadline. He called on other road contractors nationwide to adopt similar shift patterns to maximize productivity and meet tight deadlines.
Mr Agbodza stressed that work on the Perchi Junction–Enchi stretch proves domestic firms possess the technical capacity to deliver when working hours are fully leveraged.
“This is an example that the Ghanaian contractor can do everything that we require of them. We want to commend them, and they are one of the best examples since we started this tour. I think others should learn from them.”
