An Accra High Court has remanded four Ghanaian nationals into custody over their alleged involvement in a botched attempt to traffic nearly four tonnes of cocaine, valued at €225 million, from Ghana to France.
The accused—Desmond Koranteng Curiel (alias “Paul Kweku Yeboah” or “Biggs”), Musah Attah (alias “Kromo”), Kweku Otchere, and Jessica Hartog—appeared in court on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. They face two counts of conspiracy and the unauthorized exportation of narcotic drugs.
Presiding over the preliminary hearing shortly after the charges were filed, the court ordered all four individuals to remain in custody for four weeks.
They are scheduled to reappear on October 13, 2026.
A fifth suspect, Dutch national Jos Leijdekkers (alias “Bolle Jos”), remains at large.
Ghanaian security officials suspect the four remanded individuals operated on behalf of the Dutch fugitive to facilitate his syndicate’s local logistics.
The arrests by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) follow a massive interdiction by French customs officials on September 10 at the port of Dunkirk. French authorities intercepted 3.9 tonnes of cocaine hidden inside a freight container of plastic waste shipped from Ghana, with a portion of the cargo earmarked for onward transit to Antwerp, Belgium.
NACOC continues to liaise with French law enforcement to map out the supply chain and establish how the illicit cargo evaded detection before departure.
