Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has refuted reports suggesting he personally claimed cocaine is being manufactured in Ghana.
In a statement clarifying his remarks, the lawmaker addressed media reports following an interview he granted to Accra-based Citi FM on 22nd September 2026.
According to the MP, online stories misconstrued his comments by alleging he originated the assertion.
“My attention has been drawn to several stories online suggesting that in an interview I granted to Citi FM on 22nd September 2026, I personally alleged that cocaine is being manufactured in Ghana,” he stated.
Clarifying his position, Awuah explained that his comments during the interview were a repetition of an official position previously communicated by his party.
“It is worth noting that in the said interview, I only reiterated the position of my party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as delivered by its National Organizer in a press conference held on 22nd September 2026,” he noted.
He added that the party’s stance was grounded in internal information-gathering mechanisms, emphasizing that the NPP’s assertions were backed by credible insight.
“It is also worthy of note that I made it clear that the party’s position as highlighted in the press conference by the National Organizer, was informed by intelligence the party receives,” he said. “It is crucial to recognize that the NPP is a formidable party and certainly let no one underestimate the intelligence available to the NPP.”
