The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with its private sector partners, has held a critical training session for selected police officers and key public sector stakeholders ahead of the official launch of the Traffitech-GH project.
The event took place on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room in Ho, Volta Region. Beyond unpacking the operations of the automated traffic system, the workshop briefed participants on the new Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), alongside the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153).
This training marks the fifth and final leg of a nationwide enforcement capacity-building drive as authorities prepare for Traffitech-GH to go live on October 1, 2026, in line with Regulation 242.
A total of 45 representatives attended the session. The cohort comprised MTTD personnel stationed in Ho, as well as key officials from the Judicial Service, the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), the National Insurance Commission (NIC), and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
Facilitators led attendees through modules on automated traffic offences, fine structures under Regulation 242, the general operational layout of the Traffitech-GH platform, and the step-by-step contest process for challenged citations.
Additionally, a designated regional back-office team underwent practical, hands-on instructions on deploying in-vehicle fixed cameras and operating the handheld Lasercam4 speed devices on tripods.
Ahead of the October 1 start date, the Volta Region back-office infrastructure at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho has been fully fitted with the updated Traffitech-GH software suite.
