The Ghana Police Service has arrested three individuals following the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing on 22nd September 2026.
The suspects—Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai—were picked up by detectives from the Missing Persons Unit following sustained investigations into the victim’s disappearance.
According to police preliminary findings, Mr Kyere left his home at Kokomlemle in Accra on 19th September 2026 driving his Honda Civic vehicle and failed to return. Investigations later revealed that suspect Sarah Osei Adams lured the victim to suspect Philip Tefe’s residence situated at Teshie Agbleza.
Police statements confirm that both Tefe and Adams confessed to their involvement during interrogation.
“Suspect Philip Tefe attacked the victim during a confrontation and hit him with a metallic object, causing him to sustain injuries. The victim was then moved to another room where he was left unattended to and later died,” the police statement disclosed.
Further investigations established that the victim’s body was subsequently loaded into a Kia Morning vehicle on 20th September 2026, transported to a spot near the motorway, dumped in a bush, and set ablaze. The partially burnt remains were discovered at Community 18 on 21st September 2026 and later identified by the victim’s mother and uncle at the Police Hospital morgue on 24th September 2026.
Investigators have also retrieved the victim’s iPhone 12, which Tefe allegedly sold for GH₵100.00. The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been detained and cautioned for dishonestly receiving stolen property.
Meanwhile, suspect Josiah Obodai was apprehended over his role in disposing of the body. His father’s Kia Morning vehicle, believed to have been used in transporting the corpse, has been impounded by the police.
All three main suspects remain in police custody and will be arraigned in court as investigations continue to identify and apprehend any other accomplices involved in the crime.
