Fifteen passengers survived a near-fatal crash on the Abuakwa-Bibiani highway after a speeding private vehicle rammed into a fully loaded trotro, causing it to overturn.
The private car, registered AS-9174-20, struck the trotro (AS-4441-W) at high speed, flipping the public transport vehicle onto its side. Nearby residents quickly rushed to the scene to assist in flipping the vehicle back onto its tyres and freeing trapped passengers.
Although no fatalities were recorded, several passengers suffered varying degrees of injury. One victim, who sustained severe spinal injuries, was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) for emergency care, while others are receiving treatment at the Abuakwa Polyclinic.
Police officers have inspected the scene and launched an investigation into the crash, urging drivers to exercise caution on the stretch to prevent further accidents.
