President John Dramani Mahama has relieved Yaw Ampofo Ankrah of his duties as the Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).
In his place, sports academic and former board member of the Authority, Professor Emmanuel Osei Sarpong, has been appointed to step in as Acting Director-General.
The leadership change comes on the back of growing public criticism and administrative challenges confronting the sports management body, particularly regarding recent hiring practices and the upkeep of state-owned sporting facilities nationwide.
