The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has debunked claims in the media alleging that it has granted a GH¢50 million bail to suspect Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.

According to the investigative body, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the authorities on Thursday, 1st October 2026, at 10:00 am. The office affirmed that it is actively carrying out the required investigative, procedural, and operational protocols concerning the matter.

In an official news release issued to media houses, EOCO highlighted that the suspect is currently offering his full cooperation as the investigation unfolds.

“Suspect Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah is cooperating with the Office to continue with the necessary investigative processes and procedures,” the statement noted.

Addressing concerns over the statutory timelines surrounding the detention and bail of suspects, the specialized anti-graft agency stated that it is collaborating with state prosecutors to ensure the suspect appears before a court over the weekend.

“Mindful of the applicable constitutional timeframes and procedural requirements governing bail, the Office is fervently working with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring the Suspect before a weekend court,” the release highlighted.

EOCO further dismissed speculation surrounding the financial conditions attached to the suspect’s release, describing reports of a multi-million cedi bail sum as completely untrue.

“The Office also wishes to urge the public to disregard media reports that the Office has granted the Suspect a GHC50 million bail,” the statement added.

The document was signed on Friday, 2nd October 2026, by the Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Education on behalf of the Executive Director of EOCO.
