The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is working in conjunction with the Office of the Attorney-General to bring suspect Nana Baffour Agyei Awuah before a weekend court.
The decision follows his voluntary surrender on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 10:00 am. According to the anti-graft agency, officials are proceeding with necessary investigative, procedural, and operational processes, noting that the suspect is currently cooperating with investigators.
In a press statement issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, EOCO stated that the move to secure a weekend court sitting is “mindful of the applicable constitutional timeframes and procedural requirements governing bail”.
The law enforcement agency also addressed circulating rumors regarding the suspect’s conditional release, explicitly dismissing claims of a monetary arrangement.
“The Office also wishes to urge the public to disregard media reports that the Office has granted the Suspect a GHC50 million bail,” the statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Education emphasized.
Investigative proceedings remain ongoing.
