National Chairmanship aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe, has explained his decision to step aside from the race and back fellow aspirant John Boadu ahead of the party’s national executive elections in Kumasi.

Speaking in an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr. Crabbe disclosed that the two have joined forces to foster “unity of purpose” and leverage their combined leadership experience to strengthen the party.

He urged his supporters to back Mr. Boadu, emphasizing that the arrangement is a strategic partnership rather than a retreat.

“Uniting our extensive party management experience behind shared programs will motivate our grassroots and propel the party forward,” Mr. Crabbe said. “Having John as Chairman will allow us to institutionalize discipline and genuine unity across our ranks.”

He pledged to work closely alongside Mr. Boadu to execute their joint vision, ensuring every party member feels heard, valued, and empowered.

“I say to my supporters: voting for John is equivalent to voting for me,” he declared. “This is not a retreat—it is an elevation. It is a solid alliance.”

Addressing questions regarding why he did not partner with his close friend Paul Afoko, Mr. Crabbe clarified that his decision was guided strictly by alignment on vision and strategy. He noted that Mr. Boadu’s track record in political management makes him uniquely qualified to lead the NPP at this critical juncture.

“This coalition virtually guarantees our victory,” Mr. Crabbe stated. “While I share a strong personal bond with Paul Afoko, political alliances must be built on shared strategy and party needs. Our primary goal is to unite and fortify the party, and this partnership with John achieves exactly that.”

Dismissing concerns about the financial costs and personal impact of halting his individual campaign, Mr. Crabbe maintained that the broader objective outweighs any personal investment, as Mr. Boadu has committed to integrating his core policy agenda.

“Nothing has been lost here,” he affirmed. “By joining forces, we have created a stronger foundation for the entire party.”

The development comes as the NPP convenes its National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, where 7,163 delegates are set to vote across 31 polling stations to elect executives for nine national positions.
