Elected NPP leadership incompetent Team B, has track record of defeat – NDC

Gibrill

The Director of Elections for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mahdi Gibril, has described the newly elected national executives of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a bunch of incompetent officials with terrible track records in political office.

Describing the new leadership as a “Team B”, he noted that they lack the capacity to effectively manage the NPP or secure victory for the party in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Mr Gibril stated that the genuinely competent personalities who could have effectively managed the party will only reclaim leadership after these “incompetent executives” finish their term.

According to him, right from the newly elected National Chairman, John Boadu, to General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, Women’s Organiser Mavis Hawa Koomson, and others, the party has been left in incapable hands that will keep the NPP in opposition for another four years.

“These newly elected executives are a chip off the old block. They are all incompetent, have terrible political records, and pose no threat to us,” Gibril asserted. “They are a Team B—ineffective, incompetent, and without what it takes to manage the NPP. Their Women’s Organiser lost her seat and could not retain it for the party, yet she wants to run a national office with the aim of winning power for the NPP?”

“Abanga, the Youth Organiser, was in charge of Aowin but could not secure it for the NPP, yet he is now claiming he will secure victory for the NPP at the national level. He is not capable of doing that. The National Organiser, Titus-Glover, was a sitting MP who lost his seat terribly in Tema East. He ran away and is now a national officer claiming to have what it takes to win power for the NPP. That’s a joke,” he added.

He further took a swipe at National Chairman John Boadu, referring to him as the first General Secretary in the history of a political party to lose an internal election while having no credible track record in the political space.

“He is the one the NPP elected because they don’t have anybody else—they have settled on him. Their First Vice-Chairman is another incompetent personality who has no track record. He is known only to be the bodyguard of Nana B, and now he has become their First Vice-Chairman,” he stated.

Mahdi Gibril told host Kwabena Agyapong that the NDC does not view the new leadership as a threat, maintaining they lack the political weight to cause any concern for the governing party.
