Awutu Senya East MP visits family of woman killed in staged suicide

murder

The Police have opened a murder investigation following the death of a 28-year-old woman whose body was found arranged to look like a suicide in the Central Region.

Monica Mawuse Bosso was discovered Monday October 5, 2026, kneeling under a mango tree within her family compound, a rope looped around her neck and tied to a low branch.

However, initial findings by the Central East Regional Police Command suggest she was gang-raped and killed elsewhere before being moved to the location in an attempt to cover up the crime.

On Tuesday, local officials and senior officers visited the grieving family to offer support and reassure residents as detectives search for suspects.

Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunnor, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, led the delegation alongside Seth Sewornu Banini, the Municipal Chief Executive, and officers from the Central East Police Command.

Addressing the family, Ms Okunnor expressed her deep sympathies over the horrific nature of the killing.

“It is deeply tragic that a family already enduring the sorrow of loss must now face such a horrific and agonizing ordeal,” Ms Okunnor said. “I urge you to keep faith in the Ghana Police Service as they conduct a full and thorough investigation to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”

No arrests have yet been made, and police officers are appealing for anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
