Police in the Northern Region have launched an investigation into the deaths of three young children whose bodies were discovered inside the boot of a locked vehicle in Tamale.
The victims—identified as three-year-old Dauda Abdul Aziz, five-year-old Saani Alsharaf, and seven-year-old Dauda Fadilan—were reported missing on Sunday morning after failing to return home from Islamic classes.
Community search efforts continued through the night until about 5:00 AM on Monday, when the children were discovered inside a black Hyundai Tucson parked near Koblimahagu Zoo.
Officers arriving at the scene found the vehicle stuck in mud. While the driver’s door and a rear passenger door remained open, the remaining doors and the boot were locked.
The vehicle belongs to an officer with the Ghana Immigration Service, who claimed the car had been stuck in the mud for five days.
He has been arrested and transported to Accra for questioning.
The Inspector-General of Police has dispatched a specialized team of homicide investigators, crime scene technicians, and intelligence personnel to assist local authorities with the investigation.
The vehicle has been impounded for forensic analysis, while investigators await autopsy results to establish the exact cause of death.
The Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, urged the public to remain calm while the investigation proceeds.
