The Ministry of Education has praised teachers nationwide for their dedication, stating that no national education reform can succeed without their central involvement.
In an official statement released on Monday to mark World Teachers’ Day 2026, the ministry commended educators across the country, highlighting the crucial role they play in shaping the character and future of young citizens.
The ministry gave special recognition to staff working under challenging conditions, acknowledging the “dedication, professionalism and sacrifices, particularly those serving in deprived and hard-to-reach communities”.
Reaffirming its commitment to reform, the government outlined plans focused not only on expanding access to schooling, but also on enhancing quality, learning outcomes, relevant skills, and human capital development.
Pledging ongoing collaboration with teacher unions and key stakeholders to improve working conditions and professional development, the ministry emphasized the indispensability of educators.
“We recognise that no education reform can succeed without teachers,” the statement read. “The Ministry will therefore continue to work with teachers, their unions and other stakeholders to strengthen the teaching profession, support professional development and address issues affecting their welfare and working conditions.”
Calling on parents, local communities, and the wider public to show greater support for the profession, the ministry concluded with a message of gratitude: “To every teacher, we say: Thank you for your dedication. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for shaping Ghana’s future.”
