The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno, alongside members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), has officially decorated 22 senior officers following their promotion from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP).
The ceremony, held at the Police Headquarters, brought together senior officers, colleagues, and family members to celebrate the milestone in the administrative and operational leadership of the Service.
Addressing the newly elevated officers, Mr Yohuno commended them for their dedicated service, discipline, and commitment to maintaining law and order across the country. He noted that their promotion reflects the confidence the Police Service and the public repose in their ability to lead.
The IGP reminded the officers that the new rank comes with higher responsibilities, requiring greater leadership, integrity, and operational foresight. He urged them to remain focused on driving reforms, improving public safety, and fostering stronger ties with local communities to combat crime effectively.
Speaking on behalf of the decorated officers, DCOP recommended for leadership thanked the Police Management Board and the IGP for the recognition, assuring the administration of their unalloyed loyalty and renewed commitment to duty.
The promotion forms part of ongoing organizational measures aimed at strengthening the command structure of the Police Service to enhance operational efficiency nationwide.
While the Police Administration is yet to make public the full list of all 22 decorated Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOP), prominent officers confirmed among the newly promoted include DCOP Gifty Serwaa, DCOP Thomas Frimpong, DCOP William Acolatse, DCOP Richard Appiah, and well-known gospel musician and senior police officer DCOP Kofi Sarpong.
