The Functional Executive Committee of the ruling National Democratic Congress has expressed deep concern over the mounting of oversized campaign posters and banners across the country during its ongoing internal reorganisation.

In a press release issued from the party’s Jerry John Rawlings House headquarters in Accra, the General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, outlined strict new directives aimed at restoring order and fairness.

The decision was reached at an extensive deliberation on Tuesday, 6th October 2026, where executive members evaluated the impact of unrestricted display materials.

“At its meeting held on Tuesday, 6th October 2026, FEC deliberated extensively on the matter, mindful of the need to maintain order and discipline and to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants,” the statement said.

Under the new directives, campaign posters and banners must strictly not exceed a maximum dimension of 5ft in width by 8ft in height. Additionally, the display of these materials has been restricted exclusively to Constituency Offices, Regional Offices, and designated election grounds.

The party leadership emphasised that as the governing party, the NDC is obligated to demonstrate modest conduct and responsible leadership.

“FEC is further conscious that, as the party in government, the NDC must lead by example through modesty and restraint, and must avoid any display of extravagance or perception of it that is inconsistent with the values we espouse and the expectations of the Ghanaian people,” Hon. Kwetey stated.

Aspirants whose promotional materials currently exceed these specified limits or are displayed in unauthorized locations have been granted an ultimatum.

“All members and aspirants whose posters or banners do not currently conform to this directive are given five days, with effect from tomorrow, to take the necessary steps to comply,” the release indicated.

While acknowledging the enthusiasm within the party’s ranks, the leadership warned that non-compliance would attract sanctions.

“FEC appreciates the enthusiasm and commitment of our members and aspirants and trusts that all will cooperate fully in upholding this directive. However, any wilful disregard of it shall attract appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the Party’s Constitution, Electoral Guidelines, and other applicable directives,” the statement warned.
