The Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has disclosed that the authority has expanded its operational footprint significantly within the past 18 months, increasing its visible office presence across the nation from 33 to 63 locations.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series, Mr. Kotey revealed that prior to assuming office, the authority operated 33 main offices nationwide.
However, through aggressive expansion drive over the last 18 months, a total of 30 new operational centers have been commissioned to ensure seamless service delivery to citizens.
According to the DVLA boss, these newly established facilities include a mix of 12 main offices wholly owned and run by the DVLA, alongside 18 Ultra Centres developed in partnership with private sector operators.
The newly established operational points span across various regions and districts, including Adentan, Bole, Dormaa, Bechem, Salaga, Nalerigu, Navrongo, Tumu, Nkoranza, Asuogyaman, Yendi, and Atebubu.
In addition, several state-of-the-art Ultra Centres have been brought online through public-private arrangements.
These specialized facilities are now active in locations such as Tema Port, Dansoman, Akwatia, Asamankese, North Dayi, Guaman-Jasikan, Abuakwa, Bonwire, Bantama, Adum, Ashaiman, Teshie-Nungua, Nsawam, Anyaa, Kasoa, Dome, Amrahia, and Pokuase-Kwabenya.
Highlighting ongoing development projects, Mr. Kotey noted that construction work is currently progressing steadily on additional dedicated DVLA offices in places like Bole, Dormaa, Bechem, Hohoe, and Jomoro.
He further assured the public that active construction and preparatory works are underway for several other offices across the country, including sites in Dambai, Kete Krachie, Asankragua, Kwashieman, Osino, Ada, Kyibi, Kasoa-Bawdjase, Jomoro, Enchi, Bremang, Twifo Praso, and Konongo.
Mr. Kotey emphasized that these deliberate infrastructural developments align with the authority’s strategic agenda to continuously expand operational reach, reduce queueing times, and bring essential driver and vehicle licensing services closer to the doorsteps of everyday Ghanaians.
