Member of Parliament for Suame, John Darko, has met with investigators from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to assist in ongoing inquiries into financial dealings between SIC Savings and Loans and Equity Savings and Loans.

The investigation centers on Darko’s previous dual roles as legal counsel for Equity during its litigation with SIC over matured unpaid investments, as well as his tenure on Equity’s board of directors from 2015 to 2023.

In a press statement released on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, by Darko, Keli-Delataa & Co, the law firm clarified that their involvement was strictly limited to legal representation and partial recovery of judgment awards for SIC during the formal court proceedings.

Addressing allegations regarding the post-litigation disposal of property, the firm affirmed that it was completely uninvolved in subsequent settlements or land transfers. “To be sure, the firm was unaware of a decision by Equity to dispose of land which was a subject matter of judicial attachment to a third party, ECOSWISS,” the statement read.

The firm further stated that it had formally terminated all legal services to Equity prior to these post-judgment events due to non-payment of professional fees.

Regarding Darko’s board directorship, the law firm emphasized that he resigned from Equity’s board in September 2023 and played no part in any alleged conspiracy to compromise judicial decisions or deprive SIC of its court-awarded funds. “Further, our client had ceased to be board member of Equity by September 2023 and was certainly not a participant in any decision to compromise a court judgment in a conspiratorial scheme to deny SIC the benefits of its judicial awards,” the firm stated.

Reaffirming the lawmaker’s commitment to full transparency, managing partner K. Keli-Delataa commended the investigative agency for its conduct during the interview. “Our client is committed to the ongoing investigations and stands ready to provide any further assistance to EOCO concerning his role and that of our firm in this SIC and EOCO matter. We are grateful to EOCO’s team of investigators for its professionalism during the interrogation of our client and the courtesies accorded him,” Keli-Delataa added.

The law firm maintained that both Darko and the practice adhered strictly to professional ethics throughout their engagement with Equity, concluding that they remain guided by the principle that the legal profession would be impoverished if practitioners engaged in conduct they would unacceptable as private individuals.
