61229

The Supreme Court has dismissed an application for certiorari and prohibition filed by the first accused person in the ongoing Republic v Solomon Asamoah & Another case, popularly known as the Skytrain trial.

The first accused person had approached the apex court seeking an order of certiorari to quash a ruling delivered by the High Court on 2nd July 2026.

That High Court decision had rejected his submission of no case and directed him to open his defence if he wished to do so.

Additionally, the applicant requested an order prohibiting the trial judge from proceeding further with the hearing.

However, the Supreme Court threw out the application, effectively clearing all legal hurdles for the trial to continue at the High Court.

With the apex court’s ruling maintaining the trajectory of the prosecution, the Case Management Conference for the defence of the accused persons will proceed as scheduled.

The conference is fixed for Monday, 19th October at 10 o’clock in the forenoon, where the trial court will set out the timetable and procedural parameters for the defence to present its case.
