Officers of the Volta North Regional Police Command have arrested a 31-year-old man, Saviour Dzadze, for unlawful possession of firearms, illegal cultivation of suspected narcotics, and issuing death threats.
The suspect was spotted and picked up by police officers at the Kpando Circuit Court premises.
His arrest follows a formal complaint lodged on October 8, 2026, by Mr Dzodzi Kofi Kpakpamikpe, who reported that Dzadze had threatened to kill him at gunpoint.
A subsequent search conducted at the suspect’s residence led to the retrieval of an AK-47 assault rifle, a pump-action shotgun, a locally manufactured single-barrel gun, ten AAA Lion cartridges, and a quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp.
Police investigations revealed that Dzadze traded a portion of his cultivated Indian hemp to an unidentified man from Togo in exchange for the AK-47 assault rifle.
He obtained the pump-action shotgun from his brother, Foster Dzadze, in Accra, and inherited the locally manufactured single-barrel gun from his late father, Mathereous Dzadze.
Dzadze remains in police custody assisting with ongoing investigations and is expected to be arraigned before court today, Friday, October 16, 2026.
In a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer for the Volta North Region, Inspector Felix Kwao, the command reiterated its dedication to combating crime in the region.
“The Volta North Regional Police Command reiterates its commitment to fighting crime while efforts are underway to arrest his accomplices to assist police investigation,” the statement read.
