Development will reach every corner of the constituency – Upper West Akim MP to constituents

Drah

The Member of Parliament for Upper West Akim, Emmanuel Drah, has assured constituents of his unwavering commitment to transforming the area into a vibrant industrial and economic hub.

Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the first-time MP disclosed that his office has successfully lobbied for numerous projects and initiatives aimed at directly benefiting the local population.

The MP noted that although the constituency has lagged behind in several areas, he remains confident in his ability to reverse the trend and create much-needed job opportunities for the youth.

He told host Kwabena Agyapong that nine infrastructure projects are currently ongoing under his personal sponsorship, alongside over 20 government-sponsored projects across the constituency.

Among upcoming developments, Mr Drah announced that he will soon cut the sod for the construction of a six-unit classroom block for the Anglican Junior High School in the Amaakrom community. He added that the Methodist Primary School and Adam SDA School will also receive their fair share of development.

Addressing minor delays in project delivery, the lawmaker explained that bureaucratic processes were the only holding factor:

”My constituents are aware that any project I have publicly spoken about are projects already lobbied for. It is just a matter of procurement delays and processes that are waiting for the projects to start. Upper West Akim is developing.”

Reflecting on the wider economic situation, Mr Drah argued that national stability has positively impacted local development efforts. He asserted that without a resilient national economy, funding for these initiatives would be impossible:

”The constituency economy and its performance has a link or bearing on the national economy. If the national economy was not doing well, I would not have been able to be mentioning these projects. If my people are listening to me, they should know that development will touch every corner of Upper West Akim constituency.”

On the issue of job creation, the MP reassured residents that efforts to tackle youth unemployment remain a top priority. He highlighted that several young people in the constituency have already been recruited into various national security agencies through his intervention.

While acknowledging that not every community has seen immediate results, he reiterated his long-term promise to the constituency:

”Not everybody has benefited from these gains; however, I want to assure them that development will reach every corner of the constituency.”
