The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Mahama Ayariga (MP), has handed over a fleet of 128 vehicles to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to enhance administrative efficiency and local service delivery.
The presentation took place on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Institute of Local Government Studies in Madina, Accra.

The fleet, consisting of durable SUVs and pickup trucks, is designed to resolve transport challenges across Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs). The new vehicles will significantly bolster field mobility, enabling assembly staff to effectively monitor, supervise, and execute local development projects nationwide.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, Hon. Ayariga urged the beneficiaries to ensure the vehicles are maintained properly and used strictly for official duties. He cautioned that the assets belong to the state and must be managed responsibly to serve their intended purpose.
He stated that the gesture forms part of the government’s broader commitment to deepen decentralisation, foster accountability, and drive effective service delivery at the grassroots level.
