The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, has rallied policymakers, investors, and key national institutions to treat official statistics as a non-negotiable anchor for economic growth and strategic decisions.
Speaking on Thursday, 29 October 2026, in Accra during the official launch of the maiden edition of Ghana in Numbers 2025, the Central Bank chief highlighted the indispensability of credible data in steering monetary policy, regulating the financial sector, and keeping the country’s macro-economic trajectory on track.
The new publication, spearheaded by the Ghana Statistical Service, is designed to break down complex official metrics into accessible, actionable insights aimed at guiding evidence-based governance, private sector investments, and long-term national planning.
Underscoring the broader imperative of the initiative, Dr. Asiama urged all stakeholders to embrace the data tool beyond its immediate figures.
“Let us see Ghana in Numbers not merely as a statistical publication, but as a national resource for understanding our circumstances, evaluating our progress, and making better decisions about our collective future,” Dr. Asiama noted.
The inaugural launch brought together major industry players and key state stakeholders, all converging on the shared commitment to deepen transparency and refine policy formulation across various sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
