The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has recorded a dramatic turnaround in its financial performance, posting a profit after tax of GH¢16.9 million for the 2025 financial year.
This represents a surge of over 600 percent compared to the GH¢2.2 million profit achieved in 2024.
Prior to this historic performance, the state-owned enterprise had recorded its highest recent profit in 2023, when it generated GH¢2.7 million.
The impressive financial recovery was driven by a rise in core revenue, which grew from approximately GH¢60 million in 2024 to GH¢72 million in 2025.
The Managing Director of GPCL, Nana Kwesi Boatey, disclosed that the impressive growth follows strategic operational changes introduced after he took over leadership of the company in February 2025.
Appearing at the Government Accountability Series on Monday, November 2, 2026, he aimed to have inherited a severe overstaffing challenge, with 250 employees performing duties that required only 150 workers, a situation that had created serious liquidity problems for the organization.
Rather than downsizing the workforce, the company opted to introduce a 24-hour operational shift system to maximize labor efficiency.
Under the new 24-hour work structure, staff duties were redistributed across three distinct production shifts running from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
The operational shift system significantly optimized machine usage, increased overall output, and instilled a higher standard of discipline, accountability, and productivity among workers across all departments.
Alongside the operational restructuring, the company intensified its modernization drive with the establishment of its first Digital Press, which was officially commissioned on January 8, 2026, by President John Dramani Mahama.
The ultra-modern facility has expanded GPCL’s service capacity, upgraded its printing operations, and strengthened its ability to handle high-profile national assignments while positioning the entity as a competitive state enterprise.
Nana Kwesi Boatey noted that prudent financial management and aggressive revenue mobilization strategies continue to yield strong returns for the company.
He revealed that as of October this year, GPCL has already surpassed its total financial performance for 2025 and remains on track to deliver an even stronger financial outcome by the close of the current year.
