‘We’II sacrifice our sweat and blood to prevent the EC from rigging elections in favour of Bawumia’ – NDC communicator

The Zongo Caucus Communications Director for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Naziru Mohammed, has categorically stated that the Electoral Commission (EC) has demonstrated beyond reasonable doubt that it wants to rig the elections for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said every reasonable Ghanaian must be concerned about the rigging plots and schemes by the EC in collaboration with the NPP to call the elections for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He alleged that the EC is out to destabilise the country and cause unrest and anarchy.

He has therefore called on civil society organisations, religious bodies, and other individuals to call the EC to order.

“The EC has proven beyond reasonable doubt that it was on a mission in rigging the elections. The EC is not prepared to organise free, fair, transparent, and credible elections. It was on a mission to rig the elections for someone, and that individual is no other person than Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The EC wants the country to be thrown into chaos and anarchy. The EC is not interested in Gnana’s peace, stability, and security. It is doing everything possible to destabilise the country,” he said on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.

He said the NDC has raised valid concerns that the EC ought to address and ensure the auditing of the register, but it has refused.

He indicated that the law requires stakeholders to raise concerns over any electoral-related matters, and the NDC has done so, but the EC is not interested in dealing with these matters.

He stressed the need for the EC to be called to order to do what was lawful.

He maintained that the NDC will organise the demonstrations across the country until the EC audits the register.

He said the NDC will not allow the EC to rig elections and will do everything lawful to demand accountability from the EC.

“After the demonstrations and the EC fails to address the issues, we will further use every lawful means in demanding accountability. If anyone would think NDC will sit uncovered and allow the EC to rig the elections like it did in 2020, then that person should rethink again. In 2020, when they were taking to court, the court prevented them from testifying, and so if people think we will allow this to repay itself, then those people should reconsider their position.”

This is a crucial election that is meant to save this country from further destruction. Our forefathers fought to save this country, and we are also prepared to fight and save this country. Our forefathers sacrificed their sweat and blood to save this country, and we are prepared to also save this country from further destruction from the ruling government, and so we will not allow the EC to engage in illegal voter transfers and rig the elections. We will not allow someone who has destroyed his party and messed the country and wants to further destroy our democracy, which we have protected and guarded since 1992. We will not allow the EC to do that. That will be impossible.”
