I can boldly declare that Agenda 111 hospitals will be commissioned before the year ends – Presidential Advisor

September 18, 2024
Nsiah-Asare

Presidential Advisor on Health, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare, has assured Ghanaians that the government will commission Agenda 111 hospital projects before the year comes to an end.

The projects, when completed, he said will help augment the government’s effort in providing accessible and quality healthcare for Ghanaians.

He stated that the ruling government has chalked remarkable progress in health infrastructure.

According to medical professionals, the government has completed six of the nine stalled abandoned Eurojet Health Sector projects initiated by former President John Agyekum Kufour.

He said the government has also finished the Ga East Hospital at Kwabenya, completed the Wa Regional Hospital in Wa, completed the Nsokor District Hospital in Tain, completed the Tepa District Hospital, completed the Twifo Praso Hospital, and the Konongo-Odumase District Hospital.

These are six, and I am happy to announce that the 250 Ashanti Regional Hospital at Asewia will be commissioned next month.

Dr. Nsiah-Asare went on to state that 100 of the 104 district hospitals have started and are in the ranges of 5 percent to 87 percent completion, and recently I understand they are getting to 90 percent completion.

‘’I will stand here boldly and say that before the year comes to an end, we shall commission and put to use Agenda 111 hospitals across the country.’’

He was speaking at a 3-day annual conference of the Association of Health Service Administrators Ghana at Jirapa.

The proposed project will boost the provision of healthcare infrastructure in line with the government’s commitment to ensuring universal health care for all citizens and attainment of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3).

It will further be a fulfilment of the government’s policy of a hospital in each district and region and improve the geographical coverage of healthcare delivery in the country, as well as offer improved access to healthcare for all Ghanaians.

Each of them will be a quality, standard-design, one hundred-bed hospital with accommodation for doctors, nurses, and other health workers.
