Mahama will be inheriting a crisis economy with a debt of Ghc 150 billion in the road sector alone—NDC MP

December 20, 2024
Governs-Kwame-Agbodza (2)

Minority Chief Whip Governs Kwame Agbodza has made a strong case against the granting of tax waivers by the current administration to companies he describes as ‘crony’ companies.

Making a submission in Parliament, he raised serious concerns over several commitments the outgoing government was leaving behind for the incoming administration.

The Adaklu MP questioned the interests of the majority caucus in granting the tax waivers to the ‘crony’ companies when the government that is going to take over is going to inherit tonnes of problems.

He revealed that in the road sector alone, the outgoing government is living behind a commitment of Ghc150 billion, excluding that of health education and other sectors.

He asserted that we are in crisis and urged the majority group to remain calm and pray that we will be able to navigate the waters in the ninth parliament.

He declared that’we know we have been put in a deep hole. President Mahama is going to inherit a crisis economy. Even dumsor has started already.

The MP served notice that his side will not support the approval of the tax waivers or the two Supreme Court judges and will do whatever it takes to prevent that from happening lawfully.

He then asked the NPP to reflect on their failure to listen to the people and address their concerns, which led to their disastrous loss.
