MultiChoice, the operator of DSTV, has expressed disappointment with Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, over threats to withdraw their operational license if prices are not reduced.

The company is concerned about the Minister’s stance on the matter and believes it is regrettable. MultiChoice has proposed further engagement to reach a more reasonable solution.

The Minister had directed the National Communications Authority to withdraw DSTV’s license if prices are not adjusted in line with the Ghana cedi’s stability against the dollar by August 7, 2025.

In response, MultiChoice acknowledged the directive’s implications and expressed willingness to engage with authorities to address outstanding challenges.

“Having operated in Ghana for 30 plus years, we value our employees, contract staff, dealers, installers, agents, and retailers in Ghana. We are mindful of the dire implications that an impasse may have on you and your livelihoods, and we assure you that we are committed to working together with the Honourable Minister and the NCA to resolve this matter.

It added “MultiChoice remains committed to constructive engagement with the Honourable Minister and to complying with all applicable laws and regulations in Ghana and trusts that the authorities will do likewise.”
