The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has called for caution regarding the treatment of health professionals named in the investigative report on the death of Charles Amissah.

Philemon Gyapong, the Acting Public Relations Officer, emphasised the importance of proceeding carefully to ensure that these individuals are not subjected to unfair treatment.

He noted that established regulatory bodies possess robust systems designed to handle disciplinary actions against any health professional found guilty of misconduct.

Mr Gyapong further advised that the individuals involved must be granted a fair hearing, entirely free from any form of prejudice.

Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he stated, “We have to be careful how we treat those whose names have been mentioned in the report. They must be treated fairly. Our regulatory bodies have laid down procedures and systems in place even when they have to take disciplinary actions against health professionals. They have to be treated fairly so that we don’t also discourage health workers.”

Mr Gyapong took the opportunity to express his condolences to the family of the late Charles Amissah while encouraging the public to maintain their trust in the nation’s medical staff.

He added, “I want to use this opportunity to express our condolences to the family of the late Charles Amissah. I want to also appeal to Ghanaians to have confidence in our health workers. We are ethical, professional, compassionate, and will continue to serve. When we are faced with crisis, we have to exercise restraint and allow a fair process and not unfairly attack people.”
