The Builsa South Municipality is set for a significant economic transformation following the announcement of a specialised market complex designed to anchor the government’s 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme (24H+).

This initiative reflects President John Dramani Mahama’s national strategy to transition Ghana from an import-dependent state into a production-led economy.

By implementing a three-shift operational system, the project aims to stimulate continuous commerce, generate local employment, and bolster export capacity.

The proposed infrastructure for the Builsa South Municipal Assembly is comprehensive, featuring lockable shops, stalls, and dedicated sections for meat and cold storage.

To support large-scale trade and logistics, the site will include a warehouse, a bulk breakage area, and an administrative block.

Essential public services are integrated into the design, including a clinic, pharmacy, fire and police posts, and a day care centre, alongside recreational facilities such as a gym and a restaurant.

Modern amenities like a supermarket, parking areas, and a dedicated waste management system ensure the facility meets contemporary urban standards.

The project’s announcement involved key government figures, including Local Government Minister Ahmed Ibrahim, Upper East Regional Minister Akamugri Donatus Atanga, Deputy Education Minister Clement Apaak, and District Chief Executive Anne Musah.

Avangarde Design Services has been appointed as the lead consultant, with Joberg Ghana Limited serving as the primary contractor.

By functioning around the clock through consecutive eight-hour shifts, the market is expected to maximise productivity and provide significant opportunities for youth empowerment.
