Ghana’s fundraising campaign for the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup received a fresh boost after state institutions and corporate entities pledged additional financial support ahead of the tournament in June.

Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem said the Bank of Ghana had contributed GH¢5 million, while the Ghana Revenue Authority transferred US$300,000 into the committee’s dollar account.

Timeline and Innovation Company Ltd. also added another GH¢1 million to its earlier contribution, bringing its total support to GH¢2 million, while SIC Insurance Company Limited joined the campaign with a donation of GH¢1 million.

“We have about two weeks to finish the fundraising activities,” Mr. Ampem said, adding that the funds raised would later be handed over to the Sports Ministry for utilization.

He noted that the committee had opened cedi, dollar, euro, and pound sterling accounts at the central bank to facilitate contributions in multiple currencies.

Managing Director of SIC Insurance, Solomon Twum-Barimah, said the insurer’s support reflected its commitment to national development and football.

“It is only proper and good that we come in to support them so that they can go and make Ghana proud,” he said, adding that the company was preparing additional life insurance packages for the team.
