The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially interdicted a teacher at the Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region following the circulation of a disturbing video on social media depicting alleged sexual misconduct between the educator and a student.

In a formal statement released on Tuesday, the management of the service confirmed that it has launched a thorough investigation into the incident to establish the facts.

To ensure an unhindered inquiry, the embattled teacher has been barred from teaching duties in accordance with institutional protocols.

“Pending the outcome of the investigations, Management directs that the teacher is interdicted in accordance with GES rules and regulations,” the statement, signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, noted.

The regulatory body strongly condemned the development, emphasizing that it maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy regarding inappropriate relationships between academic staff and minors within the school system.

The service further reminded all educational workers of their mandate to uphold professional boundaries and ethical standards.

“Management strongly condemns all forms of amorous relationships between teachers and students,” Fenyi stated, adding that the GES “cautions all staff to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics and conduct at all times”.

While assuring the public that the matter is being handled with the utmost seriousness, the GES reiterated its commitment to student safety and warned that appropriate disciplinary and legal actions will be enforced against anyone found guilty of compromising student well-being.
