President John Dramani Mahama on Friday (July 24, 2026) morning joined dignitaries, family members, and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at Asomdwee Park in Accra to mark the 14th anniversary of the passing of former President John Evans Atta Mills.
Speaking at the solemn commemoration, Mr Mahama urged Ghanaians to look beyond the annual rituals and reflect deeply on the character and principles of the late leader.
He stated that the truest tribute the nation can pay to Prof. Mills lies not merely in wreath-laying ceremonies, but in daily adherence to his core values of integrity, humility, tolerance, and selfless service to the vulnerable.
“History judges leaders not by the volume of their voices, but by the depth of their convictions,” Mr Mahama told the gathering.
As part of the remembrance, wreaths were laid at the Asomdwee Park wreath-laying grounds on behalf of the Government of Ghana, Parliament, the Mills family, the NDC, and various state institutions to honour the enduring legacy of the late President.
