Ghanaian diaspora in Kigali, Rwanda, have been urged to register with diplomatic missions to guarantee support and keep strong ties with home, Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has announced.
Addressing members of the Ghanaian community during a visit to Rwanda, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the progress of the Government’s Reset Agenda, stressing the administration’s commitment to economic stabilisation, prudent spending, and responsible resource management.
She explained that the government’s approach focuses on ground-up development, prioritising major investments in road infrastructure to boost national growth. Deepening decentralisation remains a top priority, with increased resources being directed to local development through the District Assemblies Common Fund under strict guidelines to ensure tangible improvements in every district.
On health, the Vice President detailed broad objectives aimed at achieving universal healthcare coverage. Free Primary Healthcare is being implemented to strengthen preventive care at the community level, while the newly established Ghana Medical Trust Fund will support citizens facing high costs for non-communicable diseases. These measures, alongside the uncapping of the National Health Insurance Scheme, aim to progressively close existing access gaps.
Addressing education, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening secondary schooling through dedicated, sustainable funding while resolving operational challenges that previously affected academic performance.
Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the Vice President praised the Ghanaian community in Rwanda for upholding the country’s good reputation, charging them to remain worthy ambassadors and support one another abroad.
