Sections of the State Insurance Company (SIC) property in Takoradi, Western Region, have been severely damaged following an inferno.
Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) scrambled to the scene to combat the outbreak and prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring commercial properties.
Bystanders said dark plumes of smoke billowed high above the high-rise structure, causing panic among workers and residents nearby, who fled the premises for safety.
The affected facility housed commercial offices and a local radio station, both of which suffered heavy structural and material damage.
Emergency operations encountered early setbacks as personnel struggled to navigate access points within the multi-storey layout to reach the primary source of the blaze.
“Our teams are currently on site deploying operational apparatus to bring the situation under total control,” a firefighting official confirmed.
Although the origin of the outbreak remains unverified, authorities confirm no injuries or deaths have been recorded at this stage.
In the meantime, the GNFS has cordoned off the area and advised members of the public to stay clear of the operational zone to ensure smooth emergency access.
