The Deputy Transport Minister and Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has supported graduating students of the Half Assini branch of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association (GHABA) in Half Assini with equipment and financial assistance as they prepare to begin their professional careers.
Madam Affo-Toffey was invited to join the association in celebrating the graduation of the students, an occasion that marked the completion of their training and their transition into the world of work.
As part of her support for the graduates, she presented 10 hairdryers to assist them in their trade and also awarded a cash prize of GH₵5,000.
She further pledged to provide additional equipment to the graduates, which will be presented to them at a later date.
Addressing the graduating students, Madam Affo-Toffey congratulated them on successfully completing their training and encouraged them to approach their new careers with determination, discipline, and a strong commitment to excellence.
The Deputy Minister noted that the skills they had acquired went beyond providing a means of earning a living, stressing that vocational and technical skills could serve as a foundation for building sustainable livelihoods, creating employment, and contributing meaningfully to the development of their communities.
She urged the graduates to see themselves as ambassadors of Jomoro and the Western Region, encouraging them to uphold high standards in their work and use their skills to positively represent their communities wherever they find themselves.
The Jomoro MP reaffirmed her commitment to supporting young people with practical skills and opportunities that can enable them to become economically independent and contribute to local development.
According to her, empowering young people with the right skills, resources, and opportunities is essential to building stronger communities and creating sustainable livelihoods.
The graduation ceremony brought together members of the Ghana Hairdressers and Beauticians Association, families, friends, and other well-wishers to celebrate the achievements of the students and encourage them as they embark on the next phase of their lives.
Madam Affo-Toffey reiterated her commitment to initiatives that promote skills development, youth empowerment, and community development in Jomoro.
“Together, we develop Jomoro,” she said, expressing her continued support for initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for the people of the constituency.
