The Office of Parliament has assured the public that the Member of Parliament for Madina, Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, is in good health and receiving appropriate medical attention following an incident at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
The lawmaker reportedly collapsed while addressing an audience on Thursday, 24th September 2026. In a video recording from the event circulating across social media platforms, the MP was delivering a speech on leadership and public service before slumping on stage.
Moments prior to losing consciousness, Hon. Sosu was heard urging the audience: “I respectfully submit that if you want to be a good leader, let service be your hallmark.” Bystanders immediately rushed to the podium to assist the MP, who was subsequently taken off stage for medical care.
In an official press release signed by Ivan Dzakpasu, Chief of Staff to the MP, the office confirmed that the situation was being handled and called on well-wishers to remain calm.
“The Office of the Honourable Member of Parliament for Madina, Dr Francis-Xavier Sosu, has taken note of reports, videos, and other content circulating on social media concerning an incident involving the Honourable Member during a speech at GIMPA today,” the statement read.
“We wish to assure the general public, constituents, supporters, and well-wishers that Hon. Dr. Francis-Xavier Sosu is doing well and has received the necessary medical attention,” it added.
The statement further expressed gratitude to the public for their outpouring of concern and urged individuals to refrain from speculating on the MP’s condition.
“We sincerely appreciate the concern, goodwill, prayers, and numerous messages of support received following the incident. We kindly urge the public to remain calm, and to avoid relying on unverified reports or speculation circulating on social media,” Mr Dzakpasu stated.
The office concluded by noting that further updates regarding the lawmaker’s health will be communicated through official parliamentary channels when necessary.
